Can I just rant for a couple minutes?
Please don't come into class unprepared and then complain that I gave a difficult quiz. Did I let you know that it was coming? Yes. Did I tell you what was on it? Yes. Did I tell you that all the way through the year we would be using brush strokes? Yes. Did I ask you questions to review the story EVERY DAY since we've been reading this book? Yes. So - the question remains: Why do you refuse to write even an attempt at an answer for some of the questions? Why do you REFUSE to write a complete sentence, knowing that you'll only get half credit? Why do you refuse to attempt brush strokes, knowing that you'll only get half credit? Why is a lack of effort on your part acceptable to you? I think it is pure laziness. "You may be disappointed if you fail, but you are doomed if you don't try." - Beverly Sills (For those of you who actually tried to answer the questions wholly and correctly, or who made an honest mistake and accidentally skipped a question, this rant is not meant for you. Thank you for being conscientious.) -Miss White Hey, Folks.
Please remember to read the rest of Act I, in case you weren't in class. So far, Abby has chosen to blame other people for witchcraft to move the spotlight away from herself. Keep that in mind if you're wondering what the heck is going on. You need to know:
-Miss White This is what happened so far:
-Miss White Hey, Folks.
Today we took notes on Senator McCarthy, a man who led the House Committee on Un-American Activities in the 1950s. He and his committee accused people of being communist, put them on trial with no evidence, and then blacklisted them so they could no longer find work. Arthur Miller, the author of The Crucible, was one of the accused. Click on this link to get the notes from today's class. See you tomorrow. -Miss White PS - There is extra credit if you go to the play next week - BROTHERS GRIMM SPECTACULATHON (Funniest show ever!) November 18th, 19th, 20th, at 7pm. I hope to see you there! We played a game in class today in which:
Why are we talking about Communism? **Arthur Miller - the author of the play we are going to read - wrote this play because he was accused of being a Communist. **He couldn't write a play called, "Stupid Powerful People Accused Me of Being a Communist and it Sucks", so he wrote a play about people accusing others of being WITCHES instead. In fact, he used real historical information to write his play. -Miss White Today was fairly simple. We:
-Miss White If you weren't here today, please let me know what book you are reading by bringing it to me on Monday. That way you won't get a zero.
Have a good day! I hope you enjoyed your quiet time. -Miss White TEST TODAY! Make it up tomorrow if you were absent. Look at previous blogs to get info.
