Artists from the
Harlem Renaissance
inspired the
Black Arts Movement
Inspired by the Harlem Renaissance were the artists of the Black Arts Movement, including people like Amiri Baraka, James Baldwin, and Maya Angelou. The Black Arts Movement came about in the 1960s and 1970s after the death of Malcolm X. It was a politically motivated group pf poets, artists, musicians, authors, and dramatists who wanted to culturally change the world for the better, promoting the creation of art by black people and the liberty the mind and soul.
