This is what you have to know for tomorrow's open book test:
*Be able to translate quotes from each act of the play. *Be able to characterize people in the quotes you see on the test. *Be able to connect the quote to a theme or motif. *Be able to find literary terms in the quote. We discussed motifs, themes, and literary terms TODAY, as we have before, to refresh your memories. STUDY. You will only have one period to complete this test. -Mrs. Coller I am excited about this show; I have heard RAVE reviews, so I hope you're ready. Hey! What the heck is a sonnet?!
A sonnet is:
-Mrs. Coller We discussed the Act V questions in class and you all got 100 if you did the questions! Yayyy! Also, we identified parts of plot and what each of these contains: exposition, rising action, climax, falling action, and resolution.
Exposition: characters introduced, grabs attention, sets the "scene" of the book, relationships established Rising action: Problems are arising (CONFLICTS) Climax: the tables turn, the turning point of the story, overall focus changes Falling action: conflicts being resolved Resolution: Questioning resolved, all of the ends are tied ---> CLOSURE (sometimes) Remember, in every Shakespearean play, Act I = exposition, Act II = rising action, Act III = climax, Act IV = falling action, Act V = resolution. P.S. Lion King = Hamlet. Woahhhhh Have a great weekend, Mr. Francisco Today in class we began reading Act V. Please comment on the previous post for your vocabulary assignment due by midnight!
Homework: FINISH THE PLAY! Your next ORB project will be of the historical fiction/non-fiction genre. Also, we will be completing a group writing activity next week and you will also have a chance to work on your sonnets. Today we worked on the 2 vocabulary terms per act. You may comment on this post for your vocabulary assignment that is due Thursday by midnight.
Mr. Francisco We will continue working on vocabulary next class! So far, I'm hearing a lot of great finds!
Homework for tonight: Read the rest of Act IV and complete the questions in the packet. Begin thinking about your sonnets!! Mr. Francisco Hey everyone!
You all received your ORB 1 projects. These will be due November 1st. We then went over the quiz in class and then took it! Please make this up if you missed it. :) Have a fantastic afternoon! -Mr. Francisco Hey, Folks. I wanted to let you know what was going on for the quiz Monday.
