1. Yes, your mystery ORB is due today. If you were not in class, make sure you get it to me.
2. Today, we read in class an article about the idea that more dads are staying at home than in the past. Click here to see the article. Our task was to ***read the article with a group, ***summarize the who, what, where, when, why, and how of the article on our own sheets of paper, ***then connect the article thematically to the first section of the text of Boy's Life. You should present this to me tomorrow in paragraph form. (You don't have to write out the who, what, where, etc.; you can put that in a quick list.) Please make sure the paragraph is a good one and longer than 5 sentences, maybe 8-10. 3. In addition to the article assignment, I would like you to read chapter 1 of the second section of the text (2:1). Have a lovely evening! -Mrs. Coller

Tableau (n):
Your job in class today is to create a tableau of each of the chapters using the second definition of the term tableau. When we are finished, you have the period to read chapter 5&6, due for homework Thursday. Please don't forget that your research paper FINAL DRAFT is due to me tomorrow by midnight. **If you have been asked to join ELA11Honors next year, please pick up a green project description. Completing this project satisfactorily and keeping your grade up in class will ensure that you continue to be eligible for ELA11H. If you do not complete the project, you will become ineligible. Enjoy Boy's Life! -Mrs. Coller Theme:
**A life lesson that the author is trying to portray. This is not merely the subject of a text, like growing up; it is a statement that the author is trying to make about the subject. If growing up is the subject, an appropriate theme might be that a child's experiences truly do shape the beliefs that child will have as an adult. Motif: **A recurring object, concept, or structure in a work of literature. In the Book of Genesis, we see the motif of separation again and again throughout the story. In the very first chapter, God separates the light from the darkness. Abraham and his descendants are separated from the rest of the nation as God's chosen people. Joseph is separated from his brothers in order that life might be preserved. Today is class, we split into our new groups to determine THEMEs found in chapters 1-3 of Boy's Life. HOMEWORK is simple. Read chapter 4. -Mrs. Coller Sometimes we go through life and we don't care about the little things. After we get older, however, those mundane details tend to define us. We tell stories about an annoying habit that someone had or a moment that we could not get over, even after more exciting events had tried to crowd out the memory.
Robert McCammon tells of Cory's morning with his dad in chapter one of Boy's Life. Your assignment for this chapter is to leave a comment on this blog consisting of:
