Sometimes we go through life and we don't care about the little things. After we get older, however, those mundane details tend to define us. We tell stories about an annoying habit that someone had or a moment that we could not get over, even after more exciting events had tried to crowd out the memory.
Robert McCammon tells of Cory's morning with his dad in chapter one of Boy's Life. Your assignment for this chapter is to leave a comment on this blog consisting of:

Each individual is defined by certain routines done throughout the day, activities enjoyed, and character traits that the person posses. In Robert McCammon's novel, a major character is an eleven year old boy named Cory. Although we can have the same interests, our lives are very different.

Cory is and adventurous young boy just the way I used to be in the Summer. He is a very optimistic person, he plans out how his Summer and what he will do for fun. Cory is an open thinker, he looks at all the possibilities of what can happen to his life. And finally, he is admires the mundane details all around him especially his dad, just like me.

Cory, the protagonist of Boy's Life, is a very enthralling character. His childhood was filled with magic and wonder just like my own, but was also different in many ways.

Cory is a very curious kid just like me, an example being when he got out of his car and watched his dad jump into the lake. I am also polite and courteous to people i don't know very well, just like Cory when he was talking to Miss Grace. Another similarity between Cory and I is that he helps his dad a lot with work just like I do on the weekends in the yard and around the house. Cory also talks to his family in the morning just like I do before school.

Individual people create unique routines specific to themselves. However, some people have some similar aspects to their routine though.

Diferent people have different routines that make up their day. Each person has characteristics that make up how their routines work. If you have a lazy person they might sleep in, not have a good breakfast, and in turn not have a very proactive day.

All of us live by a general routine and, like us, no two are alike. That is because we are all different so doesn't it make sense that we would all have different ways of going about our day? At the time our daily schedules are meaningless but later in life we realize that maybe they did a little more than help us get through the day.

In our live’s we usually forget to enjoy the little things, but as we get older we start to remember little details that we have since forgotten. These are the things that then define us because we are not just one thing; but a person with many new and undiscovered layers.

Cory is an interesting protagonist for what is already shaping up to be an adventure story. He doesn't have superhuman strength, he's doesn't seem to be too different from you and me, and to boot, he's only eleven years old. Many of us could name quite a few things that we have in common with Cory. Personally, similar to Cory, I generally have a very optimistic personality - I wouldn't really mind waking up early in the morning to spend time with my family, and I'm willing to try something new if it seems interesting. Also, I'm usually a pretty quiet person, and Cory mentions being shy and quiet as well. Hand in hand with my quietness is how I observe things that go on around me more acutely than most people, and in the first chapter Cory describes much of the environment in his house and his town in great detail, which makes me think that perhaps he does the same thing. Finally, Cory seems to be very curious about the unknown. If there's something I don't know, I usually seek an answer anywhere I can find it.

Through out life people develop habits and ablities. These elements shape who we really are. Most people tend to ignore the little things like this. In the novel "Boy's Life" written by Robert McCammon, Cory, an eleven year old boy, has a special routine. The things he does are unique to him, but what people do not realize it that we are more alike then different.

I've always claimed I should have been a son instead of a daughter. Growing up, my brother was the sensitive one and painfully cautious. Meanwhile I was wild, I'd come home from school covered head to toe in dirt and nobody quite knew how I managed to do so. I've never been the one to cry while reading a book or even make a wimper at a loved one's death. That's what I feel Cory and I have in common, growing up acting like a boy without boundaries. Cory and I also share a curiousity about other people and there way of life. Always wondering how one person bought this or why they did that. It's like one giant mystery that continues to unfold endlessly. Back in the good ol' days of elementary school, I was no different from Cory. I was awkward, and had a small tight knit group of friends. Finally, Cory and I both have a imagination that has no boundaries. To this day I still wish I had super powers (preferably the ability to control water) and he could be anything he wanted with just a thought.

Cory has a usual routine like most individuals in this world. We wake up do our duties and move on with out thinking what we have done or the little things you might miss as you grow older.

Like everyone in the world Cory has a schedule. He's like me in many ways one being, he is curious about the world's small wonders. Cory also enjoys going to work and helping out his father which has always been one of my favorite summer activities of all time. Another aspect of life we have in common is how polite he is, despite who it is and what they've done. An example of his politeness is when he's talking to Miss Grace although he knows and doesn't exactly agree with her way of life, he doesn't judge her and he's still polite. Lastly, he pays attention to the smallest details such as waking up, eating breakfast and getting dressed which all affect your day but usually we all just do these things mindlessly and go on with our days, but I also pay attention and remember small details which I later connect to how they change my day.
