In today's class, we will further explore the wonders of Nigerian life through the Ibo culture.
Click here to see a video of a Nigerian woman wrapping her baby and securing the child to her back. This is a current process that we would see if we went there today.

Any ideas that I had at the beginning of yesterday about literary terms and organization of writing have faded into the background in light of 8th period's bomb threat. As you may know, I stayed home yesterday to nurse a slight injury, but I heard quickly through the wonders of Verizon technology about what was going on at school. At first, I dismissed the ridiculous idea that anyone would be so stupid to threaten Chittenango after all that has happened in 2010 already. I also had not heard from a current inhabitant of the building yet, so I secretly hoped that the information I was getting was boldly wrong. Of course, I asked my all-too-dramatic contact to verify the source. When she did, I began to pray.
After the fact, I heard points of view from all sectors of high school society - the leaders, the students, the on-lookers, the unknowing news who didn't even mention it. I am learning that we are in a battle for the lives and the souls of young people. Unfortunately, the battle extends much further than the classroom. Evil people lurk in the corners waiting to prey upon adolescence who desire something more exciting than the mundane and safe lives they were offered as children. Maybe some of those teens look instead for some sort of boundary to tell them that someone loves them. Those, I believe, will push until they find a wall to push against, an authority who proves bigger than they are.
I am not really sure if anyone is going to read this far in my little blog, but if you are still with me, I beg of you to be responsible with the fragile souls that surround you. Guard your heart, for it is the well-spring of life. And teach the young people to guard theirs, even when their hearts want to deceive them. I know I have need of this advice, as much as anyone else. Please join me in making our world a more secure place, in searching daily for the truth and making good decisions on which all of our lives depend.
