Your assignment: (Due Tuesday, May 27, 2014)
Thank you for handing in your MEDEA JOURNAL on Friday. As you know, the PROJECT for this unit is due THIS Friday, March 7.
This week, however, we are not working on that project in class. We will be beginning a miniature unit to study Dante Alighieri, a famous author and poet. Here are some of the skills you will learn in this unit:

Your job TODAY is to open two tabs:
From the databases, search Dante Alighieri, the Inferno, and "La Vita Nuova". Take notes on the three subjects so that you can write a research paper comparing the two works of literature from Dante.
Have a great day!
For the last several days we have been reading Euripides' MEDEA, a story about a very angry and powerful woman who has been wronged by her "cheating" husband. So far, we have learned not to mess with such a woman!
For homework TUESDAY NIGHT: Students read pages 35-43 and interacted with the text through 20 required annotations.
Interestingly enough, there was a glitch is scheduling with regard to the substitute teacher. The end result was that you had a homework REPRIEVE tonight. This will not be the case tomorrow.
So far, we have taken notes on the back-story of MEDEA. You each have a pink packet with that story at the beginning and the Medea play as the main portion of the packet.
In class today, we read pages 13-22. Each student was responsible to write four comments in the margin of each page of his/her text. We discussed our impressions of:
For homework (DUE MONDAY), you should read pages 23-28 and write 20 comments. I will look at them on Monday and give you a grade.
Good ideas for presenting:
Today we briefly discussed a couple important things:
Today we will be finishing up a last day in the LMC to work on your career presentations. To see the requirements, please scroll down the blog. You will find that you must create the minimum of seven slides. Of course, the more advanced the information, the better your grade will be when I grade it. You WILL present these next week in class, so if you don't have them completed by the end of the day, MAKE SURE they are done by FRIDAY, MAY 11.
Have a great day!
Today we discussed our characters in groups and decided which two characters should meet each other. Each group presented the scenario and described how the meeting would be set up and how each character would react to the other.
**Thanks for being willing to get in front of other people and speak. When you are in interviews, this skill will come in handy.
Tomorrow, we will be in the MacLab to play a bit with PREZI.
Today we discussed our plans:
**Create a character with one or two main character traits. This person should be realistic. Fill in the given chart. What actions would the person do to exhibit these character traits? Think about your life. What are your actions? What do other people learn about you from the choices you make?
Have a great day! Don't forget that we are in the LMC tomorrow!
