SENTENCE STRUCTURE FOCUS:
1. Do you know the 6 Traits of Good Writing? To practice, see if you can list them all without looking at your notes. 2. We continued with Friday's lecture by writing a sentence about the woman buying pumpkins. In order to show you how sentence structure can enhance your writing, we began by listing the aspects of the woman. After that, we came up with a sentence which encompassed all of the characteristics that we listed on the board. We created a sentence similar to the following: **As the cold wind blew through the city streets, a gorgeous woman with badly painted fingernails perused the rounded orange gourds and finally chose one as a surprise for her son. SENTENCE STRUCTURE can also be changed by piecing the sections of the sentence together in a different way than expected. A quick example is: Original sentence: I like pie because it tastes so delicious. Unexpected Sentence Structure: Because the pie tastes so good, I like it. (Simple example, but you get the idea.) Have a great night! -Mrs. Coller
