Some of you think "To Build a Fire" is really boring, ok most of you. However, think about why Jack London is writing this story. Also think about what makes the story boring to you as a reader.
We compared knowledge vs. instinct today with the text. Remember, the man possesses more knowledge (or so we would like to think) and the dog possesses more instinct. However, the dog seems to be acquiring knowledge with his instinct. The man, on the other hand, does not follow his instincts. He stops to eat, rest, build a fire... in -50 degree weather!!! I don't know about you, but I'd be bolting for camp. Finish the story for tonight and we'll discuss it
