Ralph, Jack, and Roger continue up the mountain in an attempt to find the beast. The rest of the group heads back to the beach, because of a combination of fatigue and fear. Ralph, who wanted to stop the search until morning when they would be able to see better, gets into a verbal sparring match with Jack. Jack continually asks Ralph is he's scared and Ralph responds by saying he's been braver than Jack. Jack then continues up the mountain on his own. He comes back and tells the other two that he saw something. Ralph doesn't believe him, but Jack is scared. They all go to look and see the pilot slumped over with his parachute caught in the wind, but in the darkness they see him as a creature and go running down the mountain towards the beach. It'll be interesting to see how the rest of the group reacts to their story.
