I met some of your parents yesterday. Now I can see where you all get your fabulous looks and your gregarious personalities. (Do you know what that means? Look it up on dictionary.com.) This weekend you do not have any homework, but today we had some class work to do.
*Continue reading the short story "Cold Equations".
*Discuss whether you agree or disagree with the EDS captain's decision. Why?
*Find literary elements in the story.
*Search and find HOW the author played with our minds. What did he do to make this story powerful?
*Find examples of great wording. If you were the writer, which phrases would make you most proud?
HOMEWORK: Finish reading the story, "Cold Equations". Complete the study guide questions in the back of the packet. You can also find them on this website under SHORT STORIES/COLD EQUATION.
Next week we read some poems by an author named Sonya Sones. In fact, she'll be coming to visit our class on Thursday! She's really interesting and I look forward to learning from her and hearing what she has to say! If you like her work, Mrs. Klucznik has purchased some of her books - you can buy one and even get her autograph!
Have a great weekend. See you Monday.
